I know I haven’t been posting lately and I am truly and genuinely sorry about it, I really am. I’ve been engaged with other things, but I promise you, work will resume and it already is resuming.
I have started rewriting the desktop component that provides the desktop icons (desktop_window), background, gestures etc from scratch. Some people will argue, rewriting components from scratch is a bad idea and one should never do this and I agree 100% but (there is always a “but” isn’t there?) sometimes that is the best solution and I will not abandon the current code base. Instead, I will keep working alongside it and will use it as a safety net in case I mess up or things don’t go like I expect. I expect the new version to be lighter, a lot lighter, snappier and resilient to screen configuration changes.
Anyway, this new release is about one bug (but important) bug fix:
– BugFix: Fixed a desktop_window bug: Unable to change desktop directories / paths and intermittently unable to load / show the desktop files (related).
About a week ago, I released another silent release R5D and that fixed an annoying bug in the file manager.
I will post again soon, I am not going anywhere.
