I am happy to let you know that the support for PipeWire Audio is nearly complete and I am typing this post after successful tests. The only thing remaining is integrating theme support and we’ll be done.
How does it work? Rather than creating a new applet called “PipeWire Audio“, I decided to use the existing “Audio Control” applet and when clicked, it will detect whether the system uses PulseAudio or PipeWire and based on that, it will show you the correct menu. It already knows whether PulseAudio is installed, because it complains if it’s not so rather than popping up that message, it will show you a new PipeWire Audio menu.
