Orbitiny Desktop Pilot 9D Released – Added Snipping Capability to Orbitiny Screenshot Grabber + A Bug Fix in Orbitiny’s Screen Configuration Tool

I have uploaded another subsequent release – Pilot 9D. This release features the addition of the snipping capability I mentioned previously but also an unexpected and a surprising bug in the orbitiny-screen-config tool. Full details are right below. Download details: here.

  • New: Added a snipping functionality to orbitiny-screenshot-grabber. To use it, pass the -s or --snipper flag to it. E.g. orbitiny-screenshot-grabber -s or orbitiny-screenshot-grabber --snipper. In terms of file saving, pass the path to the directory you want to save the file in. E.g: orbitiny-screenshot-grabber -s $HOME/Desktop/snippets. If you don’t pass it a directory, snippets will be saved in $HOME/Pictures/Screenshot/orbitiny-screenshot-grabber/snipping-tool.
  • BugFix: Fixed a minor bug with Orbitiny’s screen configuration tool – misaligned boxes when screens are in a specific configuration (this one surprised me).

Also, I restored the blue-coloured theming to the active file browser tab in Qutiny’ s tab bar as well as the splitter bar. I think blue looks better. Note, all of this can be changed by changing the theme file, it is not hard coded so it’s just a matter of preference.

As you may have noticed, I upload frequent releases and updates and that’s because I prefer that you have the very latest +  this way, you can test it and report if you find a bug. You get the latest features as I add them rather than wait for a whole month and then release everything at once and all of a sudden bugs everywhere, bug in one component, a bug in another etc. But when I release small bits and pieces at a time, it is easier to find these bugs.

About the the screenshot and snipping tools, I will be adding more functionality to it, like add a save button, copy etc but right now, I am doing the basic functionality first which is of vital importance. Does it start? Does it run and do what it is meant to do – take screenshots, snippets etc.

You can use the same steps as in this guide if want to integrate it with the desktop.

As usual, I will be providing regular updates about the project’s status and as you can see so far, one by one, I am filling all the gaps and adding all the missing (little but important) components.
