Icons, Themes, Cursors, Volume Levels (PiperWire or PulseAudio), Screen Brightness, Monitor Resolution and Positions, Fonts are Now all Applied on Start-Up when Orbitiny Desktop Starts (when run as a System-Wide Desktop)

Vital customization settings are now applied on start up when Orbitiny is used as a system-wide desktop. So, this means when you adjust non-Orbitiny settings within an Obritiny Desktop session, the settings are now remembered and applied on start-up when the session is restarted.

This has been a major deficiency since the very initial release but not any more.

At the time of this post, the following settings are automatically applied:

  • Icon Themes
  • Audio Volume Levels (PipeWire or PulseAudio)
  • Screen Brightness
  • Monitor / Screen Configuration Settings
  • Font Names and Sizes
  • Cursors

This makes Orbitiny Desktop a real choice for users wanting an alternative X11 desktop.

More settings such as keyboard configuration and more will also be added but a little later – one step at a time.

More features are coming for a complete desktop experience so this is the beginning, not the end.

I will be uploading a new release soon with this included, just doing some more testing.
